The Casualty Claim Representative will be responsible for the handling of First and Third Party Bodily Injury and Physical Damage claims in a Personal Lines /Commercial environment for the Plymouth Rock Operation. The candidate must have the skills listed below and be able to perform the following duties:
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Initiate prompt contact of all insureds/claimants/witnesses on all new claim assignments to conduct thorough coverage and liability/injury investigations. These investigations might require the representatives take in depth recorded statements to investigate coverage and liability/injury claims.
- Analyze, review and interpret policies to assess coverage and liability. Provide advice to Excess and Primary coverage issues.
- Willing to conduct field investigations, interviews with insureds, witnesses and claimants while maintaining a pending of represented claimant cases.
- Manage and direct outside vendors (Field/Counsel/Surveillance, Etc..) to determine what investigation is necessary and give them direction to bring a claim to conclusion. Ensure only necessary work is completed.
- Investigate cases timely so that reserves are established and maintained at proper levels. Revise reserves timely based on developments in the course of the claim.
- Investigate the validity of bodily injury claims being presented by individual insureds/claimants or attorneys representing insureds/claimants. Be aware of certain “Red Flags” to identify potential fraudulent claims. Refer to SIU for investigation timely.
- Have advanced skills in coverage, investigation, litigation/ legal issues, negotiations, evaluations, medical terminology, and subrogation. Handle more complex claims to include coverage issues, UM/UIM, etc.. Also, must have prior litigation handling.
- Recognize and investigate subrogation potential.
- Negotiate both 1st and 3rd party claims directly with injured parties or their attorneys.
- Exercises proper judgment and decision making to analyze exposure, determine the proper course of action and make recommendations for final resolution.
- Attend litigation proceedings to either represent the company or participate in arbitrations/depositions/settlement conferences/ mediations/ trials.
- Attend all internal and external training events as required.

Qualifications and Education
- A bachelor's degree (B.A.) from an accredited four year college or university.
- 3 - 5 years’ experience handling liability and/or Personal Injury Protection claims.
- 1 year of experience handling bodily injury or casualty claims.
- Some litigation experience and knowledge of the New Jersey court system is preferred.
- Knowledge of PA, CT or NY claims handling would be beneficial.

The Paralegal will provide support to the New York House Counsel team to assist with all aspects of New York Bodily Injury practice, PIP litigation and arbitrations. The position requires a candidate with a strong attention to detail, experience in New York BI & PIP litigation and the ability to meet deadlines.

- Draft BI & PIP pleadings: including discovery demands, responses, motions, subpoenas, and EBT/EUO notices

The Auto Property Damage Claims Adjuster will assist customers after a motor vehicle accident through knowledgeable communication and management of the claims process. In this role you will be handling the field adjustment and management of Large Loss homeowners property claims in NY.
Here is what you will do:
- Conducting accurate coverage analysis and damage assessments to ensure prompt payment of claims in accordance with quality standards

The Claims Representative, Complex Property Damage will provide a high level of customer service while adjusting complex claims. The Claims Representative will need to be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, with heavy phone work.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Investigate and interpret policy provisions, endorsements and conditions to determine coverage in the automobile property claim.
- Identify and investigate Contested Coverage Claims with recommendation prepared for coverage committee.
- Responsible investigating auto accident to make a liability assessment. This includes interviewing first and third party claimants, witnesses, investigating officers and other relevant parties, along with securing pertinent records, documentation and loss scene information.
- Analyze the investigation to determine proximate cause, negligence, and damages. Evaluate and adjust reserves as necessary.

The Inside Auto Damage Appraiser is responsible for preparing physical damage estimates on vehicles where a claim has been submitted for first or third party damages. Appraisals will be completed from our CarPics program and consist of minor damage accidents and obvious total losses. The Appraiser will be required to provide a high level of customer service while utilizing measures to control severities. This is NOT a field position on the road. This role will be based onsite in one of the following office locations: Parsippany, NJ, Uniondale, NY or Farmington, CT.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Work in a team environment with our Virtual Estimating division in the Parsippany, NJ office.
- Survey damages, prepare estimates, and negotiate settlements on partial and total losses within their established authority level.
- Efficiently write accurate estimates based on photos and videos while meeting production guidelines.
- Complete, review, and reconcile supplemental repair estimates.
- Review and negotiate estimates with customers and/or repair facilities.
- Issue payments to the appropriate parties.
- Document the claim file as necessary.
- Comply with all production standards and estimating guidelines.
- Ensure that service, expense control, and public relations are maintained at all times.
- Participate in team meetings.
- Participate in catastrophic claim handling when requested. This may include overnight travel for extended periods of time, as needed.
- Adhere to privacy guidelines and State Compliance Regulations (CT, NH, NJ, NY, MA, PA.)
Qualifications:
- Specific Appraiser State Licenses will be required per State requirements. Additional state licenses a plus!
- College Degree preferred.
- Related claims experience or a thorough knowledge of automobile parts and repair techniques, terminology, and vehicle construction.
- Must have a strong mechanical aptitude.
- Must apply and secure additional Appraisal License(s), as needed.
- Comfortable completing inspections of damaged vehicles virtually.
- Must be willing to participate in catastrophe claim handling when requested. This may include traveling to other locations, extended and weekend hours, and up to a three week stay away from home.
- Body shop experience a plus, but not required.
- Must be organized and possess the ability to work independently with limited supervision.
