This position is responsible for applying knowledge and experience to our claim processes, data analytics and SIU investigations to support the development and implementation of technical and analytical solutions to address SIU business and analytical needs.  This individual will implement operational, fraud and analytical models, and organize data input and output to develop and communicate recommendations.  The successful candidate will have the abilities necessary to create business intelligence reports, social media assessments, link analysis (Net-Map) and other sophisticated data mining activities. Essential Functions and Responsibilities - Analytical and problem solving skills to use and interpret information and facts as well as apply critical techniques to investigative process. - Identify patterns and trends using our internal claim, medical and policy data tables. - The ability to receive investigative requests from the field staff, internal claim associates and underwriting to discover developing patterns, trends and changes in suspicious activity. - Proven ability to acquire, analyze and interpret information from various data sources and formulate theories regarding trends and patterns required. - The ability to identify trends and common indicators within particular claims and territories and determine if further investigation is warranted. - The ability to present to management in a clear and concise manner the approach to address potential suspicious/fraud activity that could impact the company. - Proactively monitor industry information bulletins and NICB alerts to determine potential exposure to the company. - Conduct data mining activities and data analysis using available tools and internal databases.The ability to work with our product department on predictive analytics and pattern analysis initiatives. - Collaborate with others in developing visual analytics to support complex investigation data involving multiple claims and multiple entities participating in the fraudulent schemes. - Utilize data visualization tools and/or other analytics software to create reports for the team and/or management on the territory specific SIU operational performance. - Develop metrics to measure various characteristics of the SIU business to replicate and improve current measures and create new metrics and ways to view and analyze results. Qualifications and Education - Knowledge of information technology and data analysis methodologies, including understanding how technology can leveraged to proactively impact suspicious/fraud activity. - The ability to manage and analyze large volumes of data from various internal and external sources and develop recommendations. - The ability to read and interpret complex information and explain it to others; listen actively, stay focused, identify hidden messages and draw out underlying issues. - Organizational skills with the ability to organize data in manageable subsets and the ability to get requests completed timely and accurately. - Proven excellence in critical thinking and conceptual skills’ creative use of varied research methods. - Advanced proficiency with Microsoft: Excel, Access and Visio. The candidate must have the skills listed below and be able to perform the following duties: Essential Functions and Responsibilities - Initiate prompt contact of all insureds/claimants/witnesses on all new claim assignments to conduct thorough coverage and liability/injury investigations.  These investigations might require the representatives take in depth recorded statements to investigate coverage and liability/injury claims. - Analyze, review and interpret policies to assess coverage and liability. Provide advice to Excess and Primary coverage issues. - Willing to conduct field investigations, interviews with insureds, witnesses and claimants while maintaining a pending of represented claimant cases. - Manage and direct outside vendors (Field/Counsel/Surveillance, Etc.) to determine what investigation is necessary and give them direction to bring a claim to conclusion. Ensure only necessary work is completed. - Investigate cases timely so that reserves are established and maintained at proper levels.  Revise reserves timely based on developments in the course of the claim.      - Investigate the validity of bodily injury claims being presented by individual insureds/claimants or attorneys representing insureds/claimants. The Data Scientist intern will conduct full cycle of the development of advanced analytical models under supervision to enable future growth and profitability for our book of business. The efforts include research, development, implementation, and maintenance of analytical solutions supporting various business areas e.g. pricing, underwriting, marketing, operation, and claims. The intern will conduct end to end formal modeling process including data gathering, data profiling, model construction, validation, and other related tasks; build predictive models that improve profitability through the creation of new rating plans with improved estimation and segmentation of insurance risk; collaborate with business unit leaders to deliver operational enhancements and cost efficiencies in the claims, underwriting, and customer service processes. The role is a unique opportunity to explore/apply advanced techniques while making tangible impacts to the business. Essential Functions and Responsibilities - Performs data mining and data cleansing tasks. - Prepare datasets for modeling through balancing and validation. - Produces predictive models which enable the creation of rating plans and evaluation of risk. - Assists decision makers with studies that evaluate new business models to evaluate customers’ profitability including customers and/or risk segmentation, retention and lifetime value modeling. - Hands-on modeling experience and deep understanding of both conventional quantitative analytics such as GLM, GLMM, Bayesian statistics, Actuarial methods and tree-based machine learning techniques like GBM, Random Forest, NLP, Topics Model and Deep Learnings - Communicates to diverse audiences, including technical and non-technical. - Manages projects of moderate complexity. - Supports modeling requests made by other departments. - Works closely with others to gain strong understanding of insurance concepts and processes. - Perform other job-related duties as assigned. We would love for you to join our award winning team!   The Casualty Claims Supervisor is responsible for supervising claim adjusters and for the investigation and settlement of all claims assigned to the unit. They will also select and train personnel and the initiate personnel actions such as salary adjustments, performance ratings, promotion, etc.   Essential Functions and Responsibilities - Direct and control the work of claim adjusters in the investigation, evaluation and negotiation of first and third party claims based on severity, production and volume. - Comply with company philosophy, guidelines, and programs. - Approve or disapprove reserve adjustments and expense bills. - Provide settlement authority, outside of the Casualty Evaluator program. - Regularly communicate with defense counsel. - Perform quality reviews of all aspects of file handling to identify trends and provide direction for future actions. - Conduct training on a group or individual basis as necessary. - Set standards and maintain accurate records to develop all relevant unit performance and individual performance statistical data to fairly evaluate and administer claim adjusters’ performance handling. - Report regularly to upper management regarding results of unit’s performance and work conditions. - Make recommendations for promotion, staff changes, and salary. - Assist and work closely with the Claims Director and Senior Tech to attain objectives and complete special projects. - Other duties as assigned.    Qualifications and Education   - A Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university and at least 10 years of related experience and/or training. - Experience and knowledge of the NJ Court System. - Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. - Strong organizational and leadership skills. - Proficient working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite products. - May require licensing for handling out-of-state claims.   About the Company   The Plymouth Rock Company and its affiliated group of companies write and manage over $1.6 billion in personal and commercial auto and homeowner’s insurance throughout the Northeast and mid-Atlantic, where we have built an unparalleled reputation for service. Essential Functions and Responsibilities - Investigate and interpret policy provisions, endorsements and conditions to make a coverage determination in the automobile property claim. - Identify and investigate Contested Coverage Claims with recommendation prepared for coverage committee. - Responsible for the investigation of the auto accident to make a liability assessment. This includes interviewing first and third party claimants, witnesses, investigating officers and other relevant parties, along with securing pertinent records, documentation and loss scene information. - Analyze the investigation to determine proximate cause, negligence, and damages. - Evaluate and adjust reserves as necessary. - Prepare dispatch instructions for field personnel to inspect vehicles. - Negotiate and settle claims within his/her individual authority. - Submit claims for approval to supervisor when over his/her authority or for guidance, review and/or referral when appropriate. - Maintain an effective follow-up system on pending files. - Prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously. - Adjust to fluctuating workload. - Advise insureds, claimants, brokers on the status of the claim. - Act as an intermediary between the Company, preferred vendors and customers. - Resolve all disputes that may arise. - Ensure that service, loss and expense control are maintained at all times. - Adhere to privacy guidelines, law and regulations pertaining to claims handling. - Investigate and initiate subrogation when applicable. - Handle and respond to arbitration and special civil part lawsuits pertaining to property damage. - Participate in catastrophic claim handling as requested/needed. They will present claims and negotiate settlements to ensure a maximum recovery. Essential Functions and Responsibilities - Functional knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy with a thorough understanding of Personal Injury Protection claim handling regulatory requirements is preferred but not necessary. - Contact of all responsible claimants and insurance carriers, to ensure timely recoveries. - Present and explain our theory of coverage application to an adverse party or arbitration panel. - Negotiate settlements with an adverse carrier’s representative, an attorney or claimant. - Daily duties may include Image Right tasks, medical bill review, treatment monitoring, reserve assessment work with house and outside counsel on legal pursuit of recoveries and file settlement. - Maintain an effective follow-up system on pending files, prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously, adjust to fluctuating workload. - Adhere to departmental internal control requirements, privacy guidelines, law and regulations pertaining to claims handling. Essential Functions and Responsibilities - Negotiates and communicates all first and third party total loss settlements per company and state guidelines. Multi Jurisdictions to include: NY, NJ, PA and CT (when licensed) - Understands the total loss evaluation methodology processes with the ability to effectively communicate these to vehicle owners. - Has a basic understanding of vehicle financing / leasing. - Reviews damage estimates to confirm vehicles are total losses. - Documents all settlements and actions in the claim file system.   - Works directly with salvage vendor to move first party vehicles and obtains salvage bids on third party vehicles. - Negotiates and settles claims within his/her individual authority.
