The Personal Injury Protection Claim Supervisor oversees the operation of 5-7 Claim Representatives devoted to the handling of Personal Injury Protection and Extended Medical Benefit Claims for multiple States.   This position is responsible for planning the activities and monitoring the results of the team’s efforts to achieve assigned goals and objectives for production and quality.  You will advise your team on their handling of claims in multiple States in accordance with the States’ regulations.  You will interact with your staff through regular Team Meetings as well as one on one developmental sessions.   You will partner with management in review of the department’s pending and provide technical training, file instruction, and advice to claims associates on an everyday basis.   The ideal candidate for this position will have functional knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy with a thorough understanding of the NJ Automobile Insurance Cost Reduction Act and regulatory requirements pertaining to Personal Injury Protection.  You will start your Claims Supervisor, PIP role at home and then transition to the Wall, NJ when it reopens. Essential Functions and Responsibilities - Provides technical guidance and direction of Personal Injury Protection / No Fault claims. - Monitors and communicates the quality of work conducted by team members through completion of Quality Reviews as outlined by Office Management. - Provides a monthly report of results along with a corresponding analysis of trends, research and recommendations for improvement. - Monitors authority levels and reserve accuracy. - Develops, schedules, and delivers training to improve the skills of team members. - Researches State and Federal regulations, statutes, case law and policy language. - Must be able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and in a fast-paced work environment. - Must have strong critical thinking skills, the ability to exercise independent judgment and the ability to problem solve effectively. - Monitors attendance and oversight of Human Resource concerns of the team. - Evaluates performance of team members and conducts performance evaluations, mid-year reviews and objective setting. - Provides leadership through example. - Communicates effectively with customers and management verbally and in writing. - Will interview prospective PIP candidates. The Causality Claims Supervisor is responsible for supervising claim adjusters and for the investigation and settlement of all claims assigned to the unit. They will also select and train personnel and the initiate personnel actions such as salary adjustments, performance ratings, promotion, etc.  You will start your Claims Supervisor, Casualty role at home and then transition to working in the Woodbridge, NJ office when it reopens.    Essential Duties and Responsibilities - Direct and control the work of claim adjusters in the investigation, evaluation and negotiation of first and third party claims based on severity, production and volume. - Comply with company philosophy, guidelines, and programs. - Approve or disapprove reserve adjustments and expense bills. - Provide settlement authority, outside of the Casualty Evaluator program. - Regularly communicate with defense counsel. - Perform quality reviews of all aspects of file handling to identify trends and provide direction for future actions. - Conduct training on a group or individual basis as necessary. - Set standards and maintain accurate records to develop all relevant unit performance and individual performance statistical data to fairly evaluate and administer claim adjusters’ performance handling. - Report regularly to upper management regarding results of unit’s performance and work conditions. - Make recommendations for promotion, staff changes, and salary. - Assist and work closely with the Claims Director and Senior Tech to attain objectives and complete special projects. - Other duties as assigned. Evaluate and adjust reserves as necessary. - Prepare dispatch instructions for field personnel to inspect vehicles. - Negotiate and settle claims within his/her individual authority.
