The Plymouth Rock Home team is a start-up within a well-established insurance company. Our @home product is easy to buy and full of the features our independent agents want to sell and people need to protect the things they value most. Our product is available in six states and is growing 3x the industry.


The Boston-based Home Product team is seeking a self-motivated and creative actuarial analyst with a strong desire to leverage their actuarial knowledge to help solve practical business problems.


You will…

  • Perform business analyses to identify, test, and inform critical business decisions
  • Provide actuarial support for state filings for rate and other new initiatives
  • Communicate effectively with external regulators in writing and verbally, to support business outcomes
  • Serve as a regulatory expert, providing a thorough understanding of our products and endorsements
  • Monitor the competitive, legislative, and regulatory environment for homeowners insurance, proactively identifying emerging threats to our objectives and implementing solutions
  • Collaborate with IT, Claims, and Actuarial to get work done and collect helpful feedback that can be used to improve product retention and profitability

You know…

  • How insurance pricing works and how to get things approved by state regulators
  • How to leverage predictive models and other quantitative concepts to improve pricing sophistication
  • How to utilize quantitative approaches to generate sound business analyses
  • How to gain alignment on your ideas through effective storytelling
  • How to balance multiple projects at once, with a focus on accuracy and efficiency
  • Solid understanding of casualty actuarial techniques, standards, and assumptions

 You have…

  • 2+ years of actuarial experience, preferably in a ratemaking or product management role
  • Experience developing and implementing new, creative and effective solutions to highly complex business issues
  • Proficiency in Excel and data querying skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • ACAS or near-ACAS with recent success at passing exams and desire to achieve ACAS
  • Bachelors or higher-level degree preferred

This is a ranged posting, the analyst level will be determined based on your background and experience.
