The Plymouth Rock Home team is a start-up within a well-established insurance company. Our @home product is easy to buy and full of the features our independent agents want to sell and people need to protect the things they value most.

 

Our @home product is available in six states in the Northeast and is growing 3x our industry. The Underwriting Strategy and Product Innovation team focuses on:

  • Designing Underwriting strategy and solutions,
  • Working closely with Underwriting Operations to implement that strategy efficiently and effectively,
  • Developing new optional coverages and maintaining existing coverages for all Homeowners lines of business, and
  • Owning the P&L for the renter and condo lines of business.

You will…

  • Own the development and implementation of projects such as new optional coverages, refreshing our condo pricing model, and partnering with our Data Science team to improve underwriting models
  • Execute on projects of high complexity using data to identify, test and solve strategic business issues within the book of business
  • Constructively challenge current processes and proposed solutions to obtain the best outcome
  • Collaborate with Underwriting, Service, Distribution, IT, Claims, and Actuarial to get work done and collect helpful feedback that can be used to improve product retention and profitability
  • Serve as a regulatory expert, providing a thorough understanding of our products and endorsements
  • Monitor the competitive, legislative, and regulatory environment for homeowners insurance, proactively identifying emerging threats to our objectives and implementing solutions
  • Lead and develop a team of highly engaged product analysts
  • Serve as a mentor to other team members on aspects of project work, insurance and general business knowledge

You know…

  • How insurance pricing works and how to get things approved by state regulators
  • How to utilize quantitative approaches to generate sound business analyses with strong attention to detail
  • How to leverage predictive modeling and other quantitative concepts and how to interpret these concepts for business application
  • How to link multiple data sources to organize data into a logical format for analysis
  • How to take ownership of challenging business issues, making decisions with limited or incomplete data and see issues through to resolution

You have…

  • 5+ years of insurance product design and ratemaking experience
  • Programming query experience (SQL preferred)
  • Excellent project management and problem-solving skills
  • Experience developing, prioritizing, and implementing a game changing product backlog
  • Experience managing relationships with upper management and with technical developers
  • Ability to communicate effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Bachelors or higher level degree preferred
