The Claims Supervisor, SIU will oversee the operation of a unit of SIU Investigators and Analysts with varying levels of experience who handle investigations on suspect claim and underwriting matters. The Senior Security Engineer that will serve as a technical thought leader and hands-on senior contributor in the ongoing enhancement and monitoring of our Security Program for both AWS Cloud and on-prem. The Personal Injury Protection (PIP) Claims Director provides business leadership and strong technical skills for the Claims organization. This position will oversee Personal Injury Exposures for the Direct Channel.
The PIP Claims Director ensures effective and efficient execution of initiatives across all business units and validates results through quality reviews and reporting. The PIP Claims Director should be able to work both independently and partner with all levels of the organization. The PIP Claims Director should possess the ability to communicate and present innovative thoughts and modifications to the current operation.
This position reports to the Vice President of Claims.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Maintains ownership for severity, service and expense management on the Personal Injury Protection (PIP) line of business.
- Enforces Company guidelines and procedures. Has a working knowledge of New Jersey, Pennsylvania and New York regulatory claim handling guidelines and statutory regulations. Knowledge of regulatory requirements in other states is a plus.
- Oversight over multi-disciplined units to include PIP Litigation, PIP Subrogation and Pre-Certification
- Manage reserve adequacy and litigation through quality review programs, audits and conferences with claim supervisors and staff. This includes oversight on large loss reserve exposures.
- Responsible for Business Process and metrics for the Personal Injury Operation (budget coordination and business scorecard results).

The Casualty Claims Supervisor is responsible for supervising claim adjusters and for the investigation and settlement of all claims assigned to the unit. They will also select and train personnel and complete actions such as salary adjustments, performance ratings, promotion, etc.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Direct and control the work of claim adjusters in the investigation, evaluation and negotiation of first and third party bodily injury claims based on severity, production and volume.
- Comply with company philosophy, guidelines, and programs.
- Approve or disapprove reserve adjustments and expense bills.
- Provide settlement authority, outside of the Casualty Evaluator program.
- Regularly communicate with defense counsel.
- Perform quality reviews of all aspects of file handling to identify trends and provide direction for future actions.
- Conduct training on a group or individual basis as necessary.
- Set standards and maintain accurate records to develop all relevant unit performance and individual performance statistical data to fairly evaluate and administer claim adjusters’ performance handling.
- Report regularly to upper management regarding results of unit’s performance and work conditions.
- Make recommendations for promotion, staff changes, and salary.
- Assist and work closely with the Claims Director and Senior Tech to attain objectives and complete special projects.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Education
- A Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university and at least 10 years of related claims experience.
- Experience and knowledge of the NJ/NY/PA Court System.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational and leadership skills.
- Proficient working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite products.
- May require licensing for handling out-of-state claims.
